Hon. Peter Atianashi Akpanke, Member representing Obudu, Obanliku and Bekwarra Federal Constituency, continues to distinguish himself through people-centred leadership, responsive representation and a strong grassroots connection across the constituency. Hon. Akpanke’s unwavering commitment to accessible leadership, constant engagement and accountability underscores his belief that public office is a sacred trust. Within the legislative arena, Hon. Akpanke has sponsored a bill seeking the establishment of a Federal University of Technology in Obanliku, while also actively moving and co-sponsoring motions addressing border encroachment by Cameroon, abandoned federal assets, procurement irregularities and injustices suffered by constituents. These decisive interventions have strengthened the voice, visibility and relevance of the OBO Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
Across communities in Obudu, Obanliku and Bekwarra, his impact is evident through the provision of solar-powered boreholes, installation of street lights, rehabilitation of market facilities and expansion of GSM connectivity to previously underserved areas. Targeted empowerment programmes for farmers, artisans, women and youths—alongside scholarships, bursaries, job facilitation and a free mega medical outreach that reached over 10,000 beneficiaries—have further reinforced public trust in his leadership.
Beyond projects and programmes, Hon. Akpanke is widely commended for his open-door policy, frequent constituency visits and timely humanitarian interventions during emergencies, qualities that have earned him widespread goodwill and the affectionate nickname, “The Village Politician.”
