ABUJA — Strong calls for equity, fairness, and political balance dominated the screening and clearance exercise for aspirants seeking the Burutu Federal Constituency seat at the Green Chambers, as leaders and stakeholders from Burutu Federal Constituency openly declared support for High Chief Thompson Fuoye.
Speaking during the gathering, prominent leaders of the constituency maintained that the House of Representatives seat has historically rotated among the various blocs within Burutu Federal Constituency, stressing that after several terms outside Burutu North, it was only fair and just for the position to return to the area in the spirit of unity, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence.
The leaders recalled that after the North had already held the position for two terms, the then Governor of Delta State appealed to the leaders of Burutu South to allow the present House of Representatives member to complete a third term in the interest of peace and political stability, despite the existing two-term rotational arrangement between Burutu North and Burutu South. They noted that, in the spirit of equity, justice, fairness, and brotherhood, it is now proper for Burutu South to produce the next representative.
The declaration and endorsement of High Chief Thompson Fuoye was led by respected Niger Delta leaders including Godsday Orubebe, Chief JT Government, Hon Frank Enekoragha, and other influential stakeholders who described Fuoye as a grassroots mobilizer, philanthropist, and bridge-builder with the capacity to effectively represent the people at the National Assembly.
The leaders particularly highlighted his humanitarian and philanthropic contributions across Burutu, Delta State, and Nigeria at large, noting that his commitment to community development and youth empowerment distinguished him among other aspirants.
Addressing journalists shortly after the screening, High Chief Thompson Fuoye assured party faithful and constituents that if entrusted with the mandate, he would attract meaningful development projects and federal presence to Burutu Federal Constituency.
According to him, the people of Burutu must continue to live in peace and unity by respecting the existing zoning arrangement and working collectively for the progress of the constituency. He called on all faithful of the All Progressives Congress to come out en masse during the party primaries and support his emergence as the preferred candidate.
High Chief Fuoye also commended the developmental strides of Sheriff Oborevwori in Delta State and expressed support for his reelection bid. He further praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he believes in the leadership and vision of the President for Nigeria.
He assured constituents that if elected as the party’s preferred candidate, he would work closely with stakeholders across the constituency to ensure victory for the APC and accelerated development for the people of Burutu Federal Constituency.
