The leadership of the Niger Delta Youth Council worldwide has expressed their strong disapproval of a petition filed by Barrister Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq of Juryman Associate Chambers, seeking to disqualify the appointment of Stella Okotete as a Ministerial designate on allegations of fraud and abuse of office.
In a press release distributed to journalists in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State by Engr. Jator Abido, the National Coordinator of NDYC, the youth group stated that Stella Oketete is a woman of impeccable character who has made positive imprints throughout her career, urging the federal government and Code of Conduct to disregard the allegations.
According to the release, “Stella Okete is a woman who has distinguished herself in all her previous engagements. The so-called petition is likely driven by forces seeking to tarnish the reputation of an innocent woman and destabilise the Niger Delta region. We therefore demand an independent investigation into the motive behind the barristers actions as well as his arrest”
Emphasizing their support for Stella Okotete’s candidacy, the group commended the President’s decision to choose a youth with a commendable political track record, asserting that they “firmly believe Stella Okotete is the best candidate to represent the region’s youth due to her high level of patriotism”.
The Council finally urged the Senate President to promptly screen and clear Stella Okotete for the ministerial position, emphasising the importance of having a representative who understands the needs and aspirations of the region’s youth.
